When your small business creates a bootable disk for its Mac computers from ISO disk images, there's a difference between an ISO file and the disk image it contains. If you burn the file to a blank disk with a burn folder, you'll be left with a non-bootable CD with a copy of the file on it. By using Apple's Disk Utility software, you can burn the contents of the ISO file and create a bootable disk.
1.
Right click on the ISO and select 'Get Info.' Look at the size of the file. Insert a blank CD or DVD with enough capacity to store that file into your Mac's optical drive.
2.
Click the 'Ignore' button when a dialog box opens asking what to do with the blank disk you inserted. Right-click on the ISO file again and select 'Disk Utility' from 'Open With.'
3.
Select the ISO file from the left pane in Disk Utility and click the 'Burn' icon at the top of the screen. When the process is complete, you will have a disk image from which your Mac can boot.
